Sinners – Review

Review: Sinners ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
This film is a modern masterpiece and a shining example of Ryan Coogler’s brilliance as a filmmaker. He continues to prove that he’s an absolute master of his craft, and what he delivers here is nothing short of extraordinary. From the stunning visuals to the impeccable sound design, every element of this film feels intentional and impactful. The direction is flawless, and the performances are truly top-tier.
Michael B. Jordan is phenomenal, playing two roles so distinctly that you forget it’s the same actor. His ability to bring both characters to life is nothing short of astonishing. He and Coogler are shaping up to be the new Scorsese and DiCaprio—every project they touch together becomes essential viewing. The cast is fantastic across the board. Hailee Steinfeld is excellent, and Jack O’Connell is incredible once again. He’s one of those actors who deserves far more recognition—he’s not just the guy from Skins anymore. It’s an absolute dream to see this ensemble come together, and the supporting cast consistently elevates every scene.
One of the film’s surprising strengths is its use of humour. Though it’s dark and intense at times, the light-hearted moments never feel forced. They come naturally from the characters’ charisma, their friendships, and their shared journey—adding warmth without ever undercutting the story. The blood-soaked mayhem in this film is absolutely incredible. It’s not there just to shock or create gore for the sake of it—it’s used purposefully, with weight and intention. The violence has meaning and impact, and it’s genuinely thrilling to watch unfold.
The visuals are stunning, with beautifully integrated CGI and some breathtaking moments driven by sound. Coogler and composer Ludwig Göransson continue to be a powerhouse team, using sound in ways that feel fresh, powerful, and deeply immersive. This is a film that demands to be experienced in a cinema. The scale, the sound, the emotion—it’s all amplified on the big screen. This films needs to be seen and heard on the biggest screen possible!
I’d be genuinely shocked if this film doesn’t receive 9 or 10 Oscar nominations. It’s an unforgettable cinematic achievement and, without question, one of the best films of the year.
GO AND WATCH SINNERS RIGHT NOW.
