PORTSMOUTH COMIC CON 2024
I had a fantastic time at Portsmouth Comic-Con 2020. It was amazing to receive a media pass once again, thanks to the wonderful people organizing the event. The convention has grown in numbers over the years and is bigger than ever. One of the most remarkable aspects of Portsmouth Comic-Con is how it prioritizes the fans. It may be a smaller convention, but it has big ambitions, focusing on creating the best experience for all ages. There’s plenty for kids to enjoy, but also enough to keep grown-up nerds like myself entertained.
One of the main attractions this year was the Star Wars walk-through. The cosplay at Portsmouth Comic-Con is top-notch, with fans and big corporations alike going all out. The massive cosplay events truly immerse you in the experience, bringing to life some of your favorite characters from comics and nerd culture.
This year, there were guest speakers, including actors from Doctor Who, available for signings and photos. Additionally, Portsmouth Comic-Con excels at highlighting comic artists and writers. I was lucky enough to chat briefly with George Mann, who writes for the Star Wars High Republic book series and comics. It was incredible to discuss his passion for writing and Star Wars.
There is always so much to see and do at Portsmouth Comic-Con, from the immersive walk-throughs and experiences to the artist alley, comic writers, and toy sales. The event, held at the iconic Guildhall, did not disappoint this year. If you’re looking for your first Comic-Con or a convention with a strong community spirit, I highly recommend heading to Portsmouth Comic-Con in 2025.
